Transmission Fluid Cooler: Installation

  1. Install the transmission fluid cooler and the bolt.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  2. Position back the coolant hose and the bracket and install the nut.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    1. Lubricate the band seals and backing rings.

      Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

    2. Install the transmission fluid cooler oil outlet tube and the bolt.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    3. Tighten the tube nut.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    1. Lubricate the band seals and backing rings.

      Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

    2. Install the transmission fluid cooler oil inlet tube and the bolt.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    3. Tighten the tube nut.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  3. Attach the coolant hoses and position the clamps. Remove the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  4. Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
  5. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  6. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
