Test B: Keyless Entry Does Not Operate Properly

  1. Place the ignition switch in RUN. Disconnect the keyless entry module. Test lamp CKT 39 to ground. If test lamp lights, go to next step. If test lamp does not light, repair open in CKT 39.
  2. Test lamp CKT 540 at connector C1 Terminal "A" to ground. If test lamp lights, go to the next step. If test lamp does not light, repair open in CKT 540 and reprogram keyless entry module. See PROGRAMMING  .
  3. Test lamp CKT 39 to CKT 150. If test lamp lights, go to the next step. If the test lamp does not light, repair open in CKT 150.
  4. Test lamp CKT 694 to battery. If test lamp lights, go to the next step. If test lamp does not light, repair open in CKT 694.
  5. Place the right hand front door lock switch in LOCK position. Test lamp CKT 195 to ground. If the test lamp lights, go to the next step. If the test lamp does not light, repair open in CKT 195.
  6. Place the right hand front door lock switch in UNLOCK position. Test lamp CKT 194 to ground. If the test lamp lights, go to the next step. If the test lamp does not light, repair open in CKT 194.
  7. Replace transmitter batteries if the condition of batteries are unknown. If the system operates normal, then the system is OK. If the system does not operate normally, go to the next step.
  8. Jumper remote keyless entry CKT 1455 program wire to CKT 150. If the doors lock and unlock, go to the next step. If the doors do not lock and unlock, go to step  10 .
  9. Leave jumper connected. Obtain a known good transmitter. Operate the transmitter by pressing a single button once. Disconnect the jumper from CKT 1455. If the system operates normal, replace inoperative transmitter and reprogram the keyless entry module to replacement transmitter. See PROGRAMMING  . If the system does not operate normal, replace keyless entry module and reprogram the keyless entry module to replacement transmitter. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION and PROGRAMMING  .
  10. Disconnect program connector jumper. Test lamp CKT 1455 to battery. If the test lamp lights, repair short to ground in CKT 1455 and reprogram keyless entry module. If the test lamp does not light, replace keyless entry module and reprogram replacement keyless entry module to transmitter. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION and PROGRAMMING  .
