Test 86A - Identifying CCD Radio Problems

  1. Using scan tool, select AUDIO. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 87A. If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, read radio Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to TEST 86B. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step.
  3. CCD radio diagnostics are separated into 2 categories: radio failures and system failures. For radio failures, go to next step. For system failures, verify customer complaint and identify problem area before performing appropriate test. See DIAGNOSING CCD RADIO SYSTEM table below.

    No Sound From One Speaker 88A
    No Sound From All Speakers 89A
    Poor Sound Quality From One Speaker 90A
    Poor Sound Quality From All Speakers 91A
  4. If any of the following radio failures exist, replace radio:
    • AM/FM switch inoperative.
    • Balance joystick inoperative.
    • Eject switch inoperative.
    • Equalizer inoperative.
    • FF/FR switch inoperative.
    • On/Off switch inoperative.
    • Pause/Play switch inoperative.
    • Scan switch inoperative.
    • Seek switch inoperative.
    • Set switch inoperative.
    • Time switch inoperative.
    • Tune switch inoperative.
    • 1-5 presets inoperative.
