Removal (2.2L)
NOTE:
It may not be necessary to raise and support vehicle when replacing ignition control module on some 2.2L models.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Reference mark spark plug wires at ignition coil(s) for reassembly. Slightly twist spark plug wires at ignition coil(s). Remove spark plug wires at ignition coil(s) by pulling on the wire boot. See Figure. Disconnect ignition control module harness connectors.
- Remove 3 ignition control module/coil assembly retaining bolts. See Fig 1. Remove ignition control module/coil assembly. Remove 2 ignition coil retaining bolts from each coil. Remove ignition coil(s) from ignition control module. Remove ignition control module.
