Radio/Audio System Description and Operation: Notes

The entertainment system on this vehicle is configured with either a base or an uplevel system. Both the base and uplevel systems contain a radio, antenna, speakers, and on some vehicle lines an audio amplifier and/or rear seat audio (RSA).

The uplevel system differs from the base level system by providing the customer with enhanced audio system features. Some of those features may include the radio data system (RDS), extended range speakers, an audio amplifier, or an uplevel amplifier, RSA, video entertainment system and a remote playback device.

The following list shows the radios available for this vehicle:

Radio Features

Power Push the PWR/VOL knob to turn the radio ON. Push the VOLUME/PWR knob to turn the radio ON.
Volume The volume is adjusted by rotating the PWR/VOL knob. The volume is adjusted by rotating the VOLUME/PWR knob.
Speed Compensated Volume (SCV) Press the SCV button (U1N, U1P, U1Q) or AUTO VOL (UC6).
Adjust the SCV by pressing the SCV or AUTO VOL until the desired volume setting appears on the display. Three settings are available; LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH.
Tune Turn the TUNE/SELECT/RCL knob. Turn the TUNE/RCL/P-TYPE knob.
Seek Momentarily press the SEEK/SCAN button.
Scan Hold the SEEK/SCAN button at least 2 seconds until a beep is heard.
Presets Six AM, Six FM1 and Six FM2
Preset Saving Press and hold desired button until an audible beep is heard.
Preset Scan Press and hold SEEK at least 4 seconds until a double beep is heard.
Set Clock Press and hold the HR or MN button until an audible beep indicates the time set mode has been entered. Once the beep is heard, the time can be set by tapping each button to incrementally adjust the time. Holding down each button will rapidly change the time.
Recall Push the TUNE/SELECT/RCL knob. Push the TUNE/RCL/P-TYPE knob.
Mute Steering Wheel and/or Tailgate Audio Controls only.
Press the MUTE button to silence the system. Press it again, or any other radio button, to restore the sound.
Fade or Balance Press the BAL/FADE button to select and adjust w/SELECT knob. Push the AUDIO knob to select and adjust w/AUDIO knob.
Bass, Treble or Midrange Press the TONE button to select and adjust w/SELECT knob. Push the AUDIO knob to select and adjust w/AUDIO knob.
Programmable Equalizer Press the AUTO EQ or EQ button to choose and program preset bass and treble equalization settings.

Eject Press the EJECT button. Press the CD button.
