Repair Procedures: Removal

CAUTION: In case of replacing the controller (ECU) and transfer case due to changing characteristics of the frictional materials inside the transfer case, it is necessary to check and enter the calibration data.
  • The calibration procedure is not required in case of replacing the transfer case and ITA (ECU) at the same time.
  • In case of replacing the transfer case assembly only, perform the clutch learning reset in the ITA (ECU).

(Refer to 4 Wheel Drive (AWD) system - "GENERAL INFORMATION - REPAIR PROCEDURE ")

  • In case of replacing the ITA (ECU) only, perform the clutch learning back-up and writing in the new transfer case ITA (ECU) using GDS equipment.

(Refer to 4 Wheel Drive (AWD) system - "GENERAL INFORMATION - REPAIR PROCEDURE ")

CAUTION: Cautions in handling the transfer case
  1. Preventing the ITA (Integrated Transfer case Actuator) from damage
    1. In case of transporting the transfer case
      • Use caution when lifting the transfer case from the transporting package to make sure the ITA does not collide with the other transfer case.
      • Use caution for the ITA not to be impacted from contacting the floor or structure.
    2. In case of assembling the transmission
      • Use caution for the ITA not to be impacted from contacting the transmission, floor or structure.

  2. Preventing the oil leaking
    • Even with the air breather valve installed, oil leaks from the collected oil during disassembling/assembling procedures in case of failure of keeping the horizontal position. Therefore, use caution when replacing the transmission.
