Check TPS Resistance

  1. Ignition switch is turned "OFF". Disconnect ETC Motor & TPS connector.
  2. Measure resistance between TPS power and TPS ground terminals of ETC Motor & TPS connector. (component side)

    Specification:  Refer to the specification (Signal Waveform shown above)

  3. Is the measured signal waveform shown above O.K?

    YES

    • Substitute with a known-good ECM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECM and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO

    • Substitute with a known-good TPS and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace TPS and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure. (After replacing ETC, do initialization of ETC as follows)

    * Procedure of ETS Initialization

    1. Erase the trouble codes in ECM.
    2. Turn the ignition key "OFF" until the main relay turns "OFF". (It will take about 10 sec.)
    3. Turn ignition key "ON" for more than 1 second to record the throttle motor position in the EEPROM.
