Electric Continuously Variable Valve Timing (E-CVVT) Relay
The Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system is installed to the chain sprocket of the camshafts. This system controls the camshaft to provide optimal valve timing.
Electric Continuously Variable Valve Timing (E-CVVT) which is consisted of DC motor, warm gear and position sensor is installed at intake camshaft to control valve timing of intake.
The CVVT controller at exhaust camshaft regulates the camshaft angle using oil pressure through the OCV. The ECM controls E-CVVT at intake and CVVT at exhaust to obtain optimized valve timing according to the signals output from air flow, throttle position and engine coolant temperature.
As result, the relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft becomes optimal and the engine torque improves, fuel economy improves, exhaust emissions decrease under overall driving conditions.
Also, the ECM can control valve timing at cold start and at a time of start with E-CVVT.
