Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Motor & Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) is an electronically-controlled throttle control valve that controls the volume of airflow in accordance with driver's intention. The ETC consists of throttle body and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) 1 & 2. The engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU) operates the throttle valve controlling the duty of the ETC motor. The engine ECU then monitors the operation status of the throttle valve by detecting TPS signals. The TPS has variable resistance which changes based on the open angle of the throttle valve. The variable resistance then changes output signals. The TPS has Sensor 1 and 2. In the case of trouble, they take turns sending signals. In other words, when TPS 1 breaks down, the system uses signals from TPS 2 and vice versa.
