Repair Procedures: Replacement
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION:
- Prolonged and repeated contact with mineral oil will result in the removal of natural fats from the skin, leading to dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause skin cancer.
- Exercise caution in order to minimize the length and frequency of contact of your skin to used oil. Wear protective clothing and gloves. Wash your skin thoroughly with soap and water, or use waterless hand cleaner, to remove any used engine oil. Do not use gasoline, thinners, or solvents.
- In order to preserve the environment, used oil and used oil filter must be disposed of only at designated disposal sites.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove the oil filler cap (A).
- Remove the oil drain service cover (A).
- Remove the drain plug (A) and then drain oil.
- Remove the oil filler cap (A).
- Replace the oil filter.
- Remove the oil filter service cover (A).
- Remove the fixing pin (A) at the bottom of the oil filter cap and loosen the drain bolt (B) to drain the oil inside the filter.
- Remove the oil filter cap (A).
- Install the new oil filter element (C) and then install the oil filter cap (A).
Lightly screw the oil filter cap into place, and tighten it until the O-ring (B) contacts the seat. Finally tighten it again by specified tightening torque.
Tightening torque:
25.5 - 30.0 N.m (2.6 - 3.1 kgf.m, 18.8 - 22.4 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Inspect the threads and O-ring of the filter cap.
- Replace the O-ring of the oil filter cap with a new one.
- Wipe off the seat on the oil filter cap, then apply a light coat of oil to the oil filter cap O-ring.
- Before installing new engine oil filter element, be sure to clean residual oil inside of the oil filter housing and oil filter cap and on the threads of the oil filter cap.
If not, residual oil will come out of the oil filter housing and cap and it may be mistaken as an oil leak.
- If the above instruction is not complied with, the oil remaining on the oil filter cap thread and the inside of housing may seep out from the oil filter cap and the housing mounting surface.
- Replace the drain bolt (B) with a new one and then tighten it to the specified torque and then install the fixing pin (A).
Tightening torque:
4.0 - 5.0 N.m (0.4 - 0.5 kgf.m, 2.9 - 3.6 lb-ft)
- Remove the oil filter service cover (A).
- Fill engine oil.
- Install the oil drain plug (A) together with the new gasket.
Tightening torque:
34.3 - 44.1 N.m (3.5 - 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 - 32.5 lb-ft)
- Fill new engine oil through the oil inlet.
Before filling engine oil, remove the oil level gauge.
