The AVSM (Advanced Vehicle Stability Management) is a safety function which prevents a vehicle from crashing with the integrated control by the FCA/SCC (Smart Cruise Control) centered on the IEB/ESP (ESC). The FCA/SCC computes the likelihood of a collision with a radar that senses the speed and gap of a vehicle ahead. In case of crashing it reduces damage from it through the IEB controlling the FCA/SCC system.

The IEB exchanges signals with the ECM, TCM, FCA/SCC via CAN lines in order to control VSM properly.
