Automatic Transmission System: Removal
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the engine and transmission assembly. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY ")
- Disconnect the boost pressure sensor connector (A) and vacuum hose connector (B).
- Separate the connector wiring (A).
- Separate the intercooler outlet hose (A).
- Separate the EWP water hose (A).
- Separate the RCV solenoid connector (A) and hose (B).
- Separate the intercooler inlet hose (A).
- Loosen the bolts and then removing the water cooled Intercooler (A).
- Disconnect the hydraulic motor connector (A) and pressure sensor connector (B).
- Loosen the bolts and then separate the wiring bracket (A, B).
- Loosen the bolts and then removing the ground line (A).
- Remove the items below.
- Main connector
- Parking release actuator connector
- Position sensor connector
- Electronic Oil Pump (EOP) connector
- Crank Position Sensor (CKPS) connector
- Ground line and wiring bracketing
- Loosen the bolts and then removing the CKP sensor (A) and wiring bracket (B).
- Separate the cooling hose (A).
- Separate the HO2 sensor (A).
- Disconnect the HO2 sensor connector (A).
- Separate the HO2 sensor connector (A) from bracket.
- Loosen the clamp (A) and bolts (B) and then removing the warmer catalytic converter (C).
- Loosen the bolt and then removing the dust cover (A).
- Loosen the torque converter mounting bolts (B) by rotating the crankshaft (A).NOTE:
- When installing, apply the ATF to the bolts thread before tightening the bolts.
- When installing, lightly tighten the bolts (6-ea) and then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
- Loosen the starter mounting bolts (A) and the transmission mounting bolts (B).
Tightening torque:
- 49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
- 78.5 - 98.1 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 57.9 - 72.3 lb-ft)
- After separating the transmission from the engine, remove the transmission (A) by lowering the jack slowly.NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage other nearby wiring or parts when removing the transmission assembly.
