Removal And Installation
- Set No. 1 cylinder to TDC. Turn the crankshaft damper pulley clockwise and align its groove with the timing mark "T" of the lower timing chain cover.
- Remove the oil pan.
(Refer to "OIL PAN ")
- Remove the oil pump.
(Refer to "OIL PUMP ")
- Check that the cylinder block assembly mark (A) on the bottom of the engine is matched with the counterweight mark (B) of the No. 1 crankshaft.
- From the rear end of the engine, visually check that the crankshaft gear timing mark (A) and the balance shaft gear timing mark (B) are matched with the below illustration.
- After checking that the balance shaft assembly housing hole (A) and the gear hole (B) are aligned in a line, slowly install using an awl and a timing pin.
- "After removing the balance shaft assembly bolts with the timing pin inserted, remove the balance shaft assembly (A) by slowly lifting it."
- Install in the reverse order of removal.NOTE:
- When installing the balance shaft assembly, make sure to check that the timing marks are matched as shown in the illustration below.
If the timing marks are not matched, install the balance shaft assembly after matching the timing marks by rotating the crankshaft clockwise little by little.
- When installing the balance shaft assembly, install it in the below order.
- Install the balance shaft assembly bolts in the order of below illustration.
Tightening torque:
29.4 N.m (3.0 kgf.m, 21.7 lb-ft)
- Remove the bolts in the reverse order of installation.
- Assemble the balance shaft assembly mounting bolts in the order of below illustration.
Tightening torque:
24.5 N.m (2.5 kgf.m, 18.1 lb-ft) + [60°]
- Install the balance shaft assembly bolts in the order of below illustration.
CAUTION:- Be sure to check whether the timing pin is settled.
- If the timing pin of the new replacement balance shaft assembly is separated or is missing, do not use it.
- When installing the balance shaft assembly, make sure to check that the timing marks are matched as shown in the illustration below.
