Engine Speed (RPM) Signals

Engine speed signals are generated by the tach signal of the ignition coil. Tach signal is input to ECM (through noise filters on Tracker and Metro) to be used in determining timing, emission control, etc. On Prizm, engine speed is also monitored through signals generated by the crank angle sensor.
