Alternator & Regulator: Description
Mitsubishi 55-amp alternator with an internal voltage regulator is used on Tracker. The Integrated Circuit (IC) voltage regulator is a solid state unit mounted to the rectifier end frame. Regulator cannot be adjusted.
Two brushes carry current through 2 slip rings to field coil mounted on rotor. Stator windings are assembled inside a laminated core forming part of alternator drive and frame assemblies. A rectifier bridge containing 8 diodes is connected to stator windings. See Fig 1.
