Reassembly & Installation

  1. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Tighten TBI body halves assembly screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m). To install, reverse removal procedure. Use new base gasket with no sealers.
  2. Tighten throttle body-to-manifold bolts to 17 ft. lbs. (23 N.m). Refill cooling system. On automatic transaxle models, adjust Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) in ADJUSTMENTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  3. On manual transaxle models, adjust throttle switch. See THROTTLE SWITCH in ADJUSTMENTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Reconnect negative battery cable. Pressurize fuel system and check for leaks.
