Distributor: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Distributor electrical connector.
3. Two screws and distributor cap from distributor.
4. Two distributor mounting screws.

MARK

5. Distributor housing position on the cylinder head.

Distributor Marking For Removal:

6. Distributor coupling position on the distributor housing.

INSPECT

7. Distributor cap and rotor for cracks, terminal corrosion and wear; replace as necessary.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

8. Distributor housing to cylinder head. Match the marks made on the cylinder head and distributor housing during removal. Also match the distributor coupling and housing alignment marks.
9. Two distributor flange bolts. Do not tighten fully.
10. New distributor cap seal to distributor.
11. Distributor cap to distributor housing.
12. Distributor electrical connector.
13. Negative battery cable.
