Standard Emissions

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner. Disconnect electrical connector from TP sensor. Loosen TP sensor retaining screws.
  2. To check proper TP sensor operation, using ohmmeter, check resistance or continuity with selected feeler gauge thickness between throttle lever and stop screw. See Figure and Figure . Refer to THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR RESISTANCE  .
  3. If TP sensor resistances are not as specified, adjust or replace TP sensor. See METRO (STANDARD EMISSIONS) procedure under ADJUSTMENTS  . Once properly adjusted, reconnect electrical connector and install air cleaner.
