Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Oxygen sensor(s) may be mounted in exhaust manifold and/or exhaust pipe, below exhaust header. Sensor is equipped with a permanent pigtail which must be protected from damage when removing sensor. Ensure sensor is free of contaminants, but avoid using cleaning solvents of any type.
  2. O2S sensor may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (49°C). Use care not to damage exhaust manifold threads. Always use anti-seize compound on threads before installing NEW sensor. New sensor comes pre-coated with anti-seize compound. DO NOT remove anti-seize compound from sensor. Tighten O2S to 33 ft. lbs. (45 N.m).
