Removal & Installation
- Disconnect negative battery cable. O2S-1 is mounted just below exhaust manifold. HO2S-2 is mounted in exhaust pipe after TWC. HO2S-2 requires removal of carpet and heater duct next to console on passenger side for connector access. Sensors are equipped with a permanent pigtail which must be protected from damage when removing sensor. Ensure sensors are free of contaminants, but avoid using cleaning solvents of any type.
- Oxygen sensors may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (49°C). Use care not to damage exhaust pipe threads. Always use anti-seize compound on threads before installing NEW sensor. New sensor comes pre-coated with anti-seize compound. DO NOT remove anti-seize compound from sensor. Tighten oxygen sensors to 30 ft. lbs. (41 N.m).
