Fuel System Pressure Release: Civic

  1. Write down radio anti-theft code and radio frequencies of preset buttons. Turn ignition off. Remove glove box. Remove PGM-FI main relay No. 2. See Fig 1. Start engine and let it idle until it stalls. Ignore any DTCs that may result during this procedure. Turn ignition off.

  2. Remove fuel filler cap. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove fuel feed pipe mounting bracket bolt and bracket. Remove quick-connect fitting covers. See Fig 3. Check and clean dirt from quick-connect fittings. Place shop towel over quick-connect fitting. Hold connector in one hand and using other hand, squeeze retainer tabs to release them from locking pawls. Pull connector apart. See Fig 2. Check fitting for dirt and damage.
  3. If connector does not move, keep retainer tabs pressed down, and alternately push and pull connector until it comes off easily. Do not use any tools. If retainer is removed from fuel pipe, retainer must be replaced with new one. Do not damage fuel pipe end.
