Shift Lever Position Guide Replacement

NOTE: Do not wipe off the grease that is applied to the portion of the shift lever marked with an asterisk (*) when you disassemble or assemble it because a special grease is used.
  1. Remove the shift lever assembly (see SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL ).
  2. Remove the shift lock release pin (A), the spring (B), and the shift lock release (C).

  3. Remove the shift lock solenoid (A), the solenoid plunger (B), and the plunger spring (C) while prying up the solenoid lock (D).

  4. Remove the shift lock stop and the stop cushion assembly (E).
  5. Remove the park pin switch (A).

  6. Remove the self-locking nuts, and remove the shift lever position guide (A) from the shift lever bracket.

  7. Install a new shift lever position guide with new self-locking nuts on the shift lever bracket.
  8. Install the park pin switch by aligning the tab with the positioning hole on the shift lever position guide. Apply non-hardening thread lock sealant to the screw, then secure the park pin switch with the screw.
  9. Install the shift lock stop over the pin.
  10. Install the shift lock solenoid plunger and the plunger spring in the shift lock solenoid.
  11. Install the shift lock solenoid by aligning the joint of the shift lock solenoid plunger with the tip of the shift lock stop.
  12. Install the shift lock release, the spring, and the pin.
  13. Install the shift lever assembly (see SHIFT LEVER INSTALLATION ).
