Combination Switch Control Unit Input Test
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2014 Honda Ridgeline, 2013 Honda Ridgeline, 2012 Honda Ridgeline, 2011 Honda Ridgeline, and 2010 Honda Ridgeline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Check the No. 22 (120 A) No. 23 (60 A), No. 15(40 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box before testing.
- Before troubleshooting the combination switch control unit, troubleshoot the multiplex integrated control system first, using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Remove the steering column covers (see REMOVAL ).
- Disconnect the 12P connector from the combination switch control unit.
- Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
- If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
- If the terminals look OK, Go to step 6.
- Reconnect all the connector to the control unit, and do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, the combination switch control unit must be faulty, replace the combination switch (see COMBINATION SWITCH REPLACEMENT ).
WIRE TEST CONDITION REFERENCE CHART
| Cavity | Wire | Test condition | Test: Desired result | Possible cause if desired result is not obtained |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 | BLK | In all ignition switch positions | Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. |
|
| 7 | WHT/RED | Under all conditions | Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. |
|
| 1 | YEL | Ignition switch ON (II) | Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. |
|
| 3 | LT GRN | Under all conditions | Check for continuity between terminal No. 3 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector X (39P) terminal No. 27: There should be continuity. |
An open or high resistance in the wire |
