Door Multiplex Control Unit Input Test

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2014 Honda Ridgeline, 2013 Honda Ridgeline, 2012 Honda Ridgeline, 2011 Honda Ridgeline, and 2010 Honda Ridgeline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Check the No. 22 (120 A), No. 23 (60 A), No. 15 (40 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box before troubleshooting.
  1. Before troubleshooting the door multiplex control unit, troubleshoot the multiplex integrated control system first, using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  3. Remove the power window master switch (see PASSENGER'S POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST ).
  4. Disconnect the 23P connector from the power window master switch (door multiplex control unit).

  5. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, Go to step 6.
  6. With the connector still disconnected, do these input tests at the following connector.
    • If the test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If the input tests prove OK, Go to step 7.
    WIRE TEST CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
16 BRN/BLK Under all conditions Check for continuity between terminal No. 16 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector J (21P) terminal No. 4:
    There should be continuity.
An open or high resistance in the wire
  7. Reconnect the connector to the door multiplex control unit, and do these input tests at the following connector.
WIRE TEST CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
1 BLK In all ignition switch positions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
15 WHT/RED Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
20 YEL Ignition switch ON (II) Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. 21 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
