DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0A1B (297) (Generator Motor Control Module)
DTC P0A1B (297): Traction Motor Control Module (Generator Motor Control Module Detected)
General Description
The drive motor control module (DMCM) and the generator control module (GCM) in the motor control module communicate each other. If the GCM cannot receive the communication data from the DMCM for a specified duration, or the received data is abnormal for a specified duration, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 500 milliseconds or more |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 volt battery charging system indicator on |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Elapsed time after the vehicle condition is turned to the ON mode | 3.0 seconds | - |
Malfunction Threshold
The GCM cannot receive the communication data from the DMCM or the received data is abnormal for a specified duration for at least 500 milliseconds.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Motor control module (DMCM) failure
- Motor control module (GCM) failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL, the POWER SYSTEM indicator, and the 12 volt battery charging system indicator comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL, the POWER SYSTEM indicator, and the 12 volt battery charging system indicator are cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the POWER SYSTEM indicator, the 12 volt battery charging system indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
