DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P1DD9 (1012), P1DD9 (1012) (Generator Motor Control Module)
DTC P1DD9 (1012): VCU I1 Current Sensor 1 Circuit (Traction Motor Control Module Detected)DTC P1DD9 (1012): VCU I1 Current Sensor Circuit (Generator Motor Control Module Detected)
General Description
The motor control module protects the power element by the I1 current sensor A in the power control unit (PCU). If the output voltage of the I1 current sensor A is out of the specified voltage for a set time, the motor control module detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 1.0 second or more |
| DTC Type | Two drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 volt battery charging system indicator off |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| 12 volt battery voltage | 6.5 V | - |
Malfunction Threshold
Either of these condition is met:
- The output voltage of the I1 current sensor A is more than 4.62 V for at least 1.0 second.
- The output voltage of the I1 current sensor A is more less 0.37 V for at least 1.0 second.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- I1 current sensor A failure
- Motor control module failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the motor control module memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on, the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
