DTC P172A

DTC P172A  : KEY-Release Wake-up Output Circuit Malfunction

NOTE:
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P172A KEY-Release Wake-up Output Circuit Malfunction      

DTC (Gear)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for at least 10 seconds.

    -5. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P172A in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

    DTC Description OBD Status
    P172A KEY-Release Wake-up Output Circuit Malfunction  

    Does the HDS indicate FAILED?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections and loose terminals between the SBW shifter control module and the body control module. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 1

  2. Determine possible failure area (SBW shifter control module, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    SBW shifter control module 20P connector

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 SBW shifter control module 20P connector No. 7
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there voltage?

    YES 

    SBW shifter control module is OK, go to step 3.

    NO 

    Faulty SBW shifter control module. Replace the SBW shifter assembly .

  3. Shorted wire check (SRKS line to power)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Body control module connector C (66P)

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector C (66P): disconnected
    Test point 1 SBW shifter control module 20P connector No. 7
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there voltage?

    YES 

    Repair a short to power in the SRKS wire between the SBW shifter control module and the body control module.

    NO 

    The SRKS wire is OK. Replace the body control module.
