DTC P0701
DTC P0701: Transmission Control System Range/Performance
General Description
The purpose of the diagnostic is to detect an unnecessary power flow in the transmission. If the ratio of input speed in the transmission to engine speed is a specified value when the shift position/mode is in P or N, the transmission control module (TCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 2 seconds or more*12 seconds or more** |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL off, A/T gear position indicator blinks |
*: Detection in N position/mode
**: Detection in P position/mode
Enable Conditions
| Condition | ||
|---|---|---|
| State of the engine | Running | |
| Shift position/mode | N, P | |
Malfunction Threshold
The ratio of input speed [Transmission Input Speed] in the transmission to engine speed [Engine Speed] is lower than minimum value as following when the shift position/mode is in N or P. The threshold changes depending on ATF temperature [ATF Temperature].
[ ]: HDS Parameter
| ATF temperature (°F (°C)) | 30 (-1) | 32 (0) | 68 (20) | 104 (40) |
| Ratio of input speed in the transmission to engine speed | 0.2 | 0.2 | 0.35 | 0.5 |
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Transmission internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Start the engine in P position/mode, and wait for at least 12 seconds.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the A/T gear position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The A/T gear position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
