DTC P0741
DTC P0741: Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck OFF
General Description
The transmission control module (TCM) monitors actual torque converter slip and target torque converter slip. If the deviation between the actual torque converter slip and the target torque converter slip is specified value for a specified duration, and the condition is detected for a specified time, the TCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
*: MIL comes on at second drive cycle
*1: USA and Canada models
*2: Mexico model
| Duration | Depending on the driving conditions |
| DTC Type* 1 | One drive cycle, MIL on*, A/T gear position indicator blinks |
| DTC Type* 2 | One drive cycle, MIL off, A/T gear position indicator blinks |
*: MIL comes on at second drive cycle
*1: USA and Canada models
*2: Mexico model
Enable Conditions
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Engine torque received from PCM | - | 500 Nm (50.9 Kgf-m, 368 lbf.ft) |
| Commanded torque converter lock-up clutch pressure | 300 kPa (3.06 kgf/cm2 , 44 psi) | - |
| Other | Torque converter lock-up clutch closed or in closed loop control mode | |
Malfunction Threshold
The deviation between the actual torque converter slip and the target torque converter slip is more than 40 rpm for at least 20 seconds, and the condition is detected 2 times.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Transmission internal failure
- Hydraulic control unit internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- 1.
Start the engine.
- 2.
Drive the vehicle for a while.
- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details* 1
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, the A/T gear position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The A/T gear position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
