DTC P287C
DTC P287C: Transmission Adaptive Values Not Learned
General Description
The transmission control module (TCM) absorbs each vehicle variability, and to control smoothly on switching forward/reverse, starting, and automatic shifting, the hydraulic pressure characteristic calibration are done at the factory. At the factory, the hydraulic pressure characteristic calibration is done, and records to the TCM that the calibration was successfully done. Calibrations must be done if transmission, hydraulic control unit, or TCM is replaced. When the calibration is not finished when the TCM is activated, the TCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

| Vehicle | ON mode |
Malfunction Threshold
The hydraulic pressure characteristic calibration is not finished when the TCM is activated.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Hydraulic pressure characteristic calibration not completed
- TCM internal failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the A/T gear position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The A/T gear position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
