Model Identification

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, and 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

BODY IDENTIFICATION

Style Model
Pickup Sierra & Silverado, 3500 HAD
Utility Avalanche, Escalade, Escalade ASV, Escalade EX, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, & Yukon XL

Vehicle drivetrain can be identified by 5th character of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), stamped on metal pad on top of left end of instrument panel, near windshield. See DRIVETRAIN IDENTIFICATION  table.

DRIVETRAIN IDENTIFICATION

Series (1) Model
"C" Avalanche, Escalade, Sierra, Silverado, 3500 HAD, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, & Yukon XL
"K" Avalanche, Escalade, Escalade ASV, Escalade EX, Sierra, Silverado, 3500 HAD, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, & Yukon XL
(1) "C" series trucks are rear wheel drive. "K" series trucks are All Wheel Drive (AWD) or Four Wheel Drive RWD.

Some procedures vary, depending on Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and options. For GVWR identification, check driver door jamb sticker. For Regular Production Option (RPO) Code identification, see RPO CODE IDENTIFICATION  table. The RPO codes are on a label, normally located in glove box.
