Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Classic. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the power mirror switch of the outside rearview mirror.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the voltage supply circuit and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the voltage supply circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit and ground.
- If greater than 1 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for 25-95 ohms of resistance between the control terminal and the ground terminal of each motor control circuit.
- If the resistance is not within the specified range, test the circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the outside rearview mirror.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the power mirror switch.
