Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
The transmission range switch detects whether the transmission is in park or neutral. The engine control module monitors the transaxle range to maintain engine idle. Based on this signal the engine control module determines the automatic transaxle load and drives the ISC motor to maintain optimum idle speed.
