HARNESS INSPECTION PROCEDURE

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
If there is an open or short circuit in the vehicle speed sensor signal circuit, the engine may stall when the vehicle is decelerated to stop.

SENSOR INSPECTION





1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector and remove the speed sensor.





2. Connect the positive (+) lead from battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1.
3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the tester to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
4. Turn the speed sensor shaft using a flat driver.
5. Check if there is a voltage change from about 0 Volts to 11 Volts or more between terminal 1 and 3.
6. The voltage change should occur 4 times for each revolution of the shaft.
