Cruise Control - Disengages By Itself: Overview

Group:
TRANSAXLE

Number:
03-40-004

Date:
MARCH, 2003

Model:
2001-03 SANTA FE

Subject:
2001-03 SANTA FE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT ABOVE 75 MPH - FIELD FIX

DESCRIPTION:

On some 2001-2003 MY Santa Fe 2.7L vehicles, if the cruise control system is being used while the vehicle travels up a hill at speeds above 75 mph, the cruise control system may disengage as the vehicle speed decreases (due to the increased load). The Repair Procedure describes installation of an extension wire between the Cruise Control Module and TCM which will allow the cruise control module to command a 4->3 downshift instead of disengaging the system.

VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: SANTA FE 2.7L vehicles with automatic transaxles and cruise control

^ Affected vehicle production date range: Produced through October 12, 2002

^ Affected VIN range: Produced through KM8SC73D73U385380
