Engine Control Module (ECM): Replacement

  1. Disconnect the ECM wiring connector.
  2. Unscrew four bolts mounting on back of air cleaner assembly.

  3. Remove the ECM.
  4. Install a new ECM.

    Tightening torque: 1.0 ~ 1.2kgf.m

  5. Write the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in a new ECM according to "VIN PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE ".
  6. Perform the below procedures to program an new TPS adaptation into a new ECM.
    CAUTION: When replacing ECM or ETC throttle body, be sure to perform a new TPS adaptation using Hi-Scan(Pro).
    1. Clear the previous TPS adaptation value using Hi-Scan(Pro).

    2. Turn the ignition switch off, and then turn it on without cranking.
    3. Wait for 10sec. until TPS adaptation finishes.
    NOTE: The above procedures have to be performed under below conditions.
    • Battery voltage > 10V
    • Intake air temperature > 5.3°C
    • 5.3°C < Coolant temperature < 99.8°C
  7. Check a fault code(DTC) on Hi-Scan(Pro) if the TPS adaptation was successful.
