Repair Procedures: Removal: Notes
CAUTION:
- Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
- To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
NOTE:
- Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
- For release the fuel system pressure before remove the engine assembly, start the engine without fuel pump relay. And then turn off the ignition switch after engine stops.
- Disconnect the battery negative cable (A).
Tightening torque: 4.0~6.0N.m (0.4~0.6kgf.m, 3.0~4.4lb-ft)
- Remove the engine room cover (A), engine cover (B) and radiator grill upper cover (C).
- Loosen the drain plug (A) and drain the engine coolant. Remove the radiator cap (B) to speed draining.WARNING: Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious scalding could be caused by hot fluid under high pressure escaping from the radiator.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly.
- Remove the air duct (A).
- Disconnect the air flow sensor (AFS) connector (C).
- Disconnect the breather hose (B).
- Remove the resonator (F), the intake air hose (E) and air cleaner assembly (D).
Tightening torque
Hose clamp bolt: 2.9 ~ 4.9N.m (0.3 ~ 0.5kgf.m, 2.2 ~ 3.6lb-ft)
Air cleaner assembly bolts: 7.8 ~ 9.8N.m (0.8 ~ 1.0kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2lb-ft)
- Recover refrigerant and then disconnect the A/C high pressure pipe (A) and low pressure pipe (B). (Refer to in HA Group)
- Remove the front wheel.
- Remove the under cover.
- Disconnect the radiator upper hose (A) and lower hose (B).
- Disconnect the ATF oil cooler hose (A).
- Remove the fuel hose (A), the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) hose (B) and the brake booster vacuum hose (C).
- Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
- Disconnect the ECM connector (A) and ground line (B).
- Remove the fuse box cover (A).
- Disconnect the wiring (A) of the fuse box.
- Remove the jump cable cover (A) and fuse & relay box cover (B).
- Disconnect the wiring (A) of the jump cable and the wiring (B) of the fuse & relay box.
- Remove the fuse & relay box (A) by loosening the mounting bolts (B).
- Remove the connector (A) and wirings.
- Disconnect the ground cable (A).
- Remove the tie rod end ball joint (A). (Refer to )
- Remove the stabilizer bar by loosening the link fixing nut (B) and clamp fixing bolt (C). (Refer to )
- Remove the air spring wiring bracket (D)
- Remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolt and nut (E). (Refer to )
- Remove the height level sensor mounting bolt (F).
- Remove the lateral arm mounting bolt & nut (G) from the sub frame. (Refer to )
- Remove the tension arm mounting bolt & nut (H) from the sub frame. (Refer to )
- Disconnect the power steering fluid hoses (A) and then drain the power steering fluid. (Refer to )
- Remove the air hose fixing clips (B) from the sub frame.
- Remove the steering column U-joint bolt (A). (Refer to )
- Disconnect the LH and RH rear oxygen sensors (A) and then front muffler (C) after removing the exhaust manifold stay (B).
Tightening torque:
Nuts (D): 49.1 ~ 54.0N.m (5.0 ~ 5.5kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 39.8lb-ft)
Bolts (E): 34.3 ~ 41.2N.m (3.5 ~ 4.2kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 30.4lb-ft)
- Disconnected the transmission shift cable (A). (Refer to )
- Support the sub frame and engine and transmission assembly with a floor jack.
- Disconnect the transmission ground line (D) and then remove the transmission mounting bracket (A).
Tightening torque:
Bolts (B): 49.1 ~ 63.8N.m (5.0 ~ 6.5kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 47.0lb-ft)
Nuts (C): 29.4 ~ 34.3N.m (3.0 ~ 3.5kgf.m, 21.7 ~ 25.3lb-ft)
- Disconnect the propeller shaft (E) from transmission. (Refer to )
- Remove the sub frame (A) by loosening the mounting bolts (B).
Tightening torque:
137.3 ~ 156.9Nm (14.0 ~ 16.0kgf.m, 101.3 ~ 115.7lb-ft)
NOTE:
Check that all the cables, harness connector and hoses are disconnected from the engine and transaxle assembly.
