Description and Operation: Description

Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IATS) is installed inside the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAPS) and detects the intake air temperature. To calculate precise air quantity, correction of the air temperature is needed. Since air density varies according to the temperature, the ECM uses not only the MAPS signal but also the IATS signal. This sensor has a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) Thermistor, and it's resistance changes in inverse proportion to the temperature.
