DESCRIPTION
This bulletin provides the procedure to update the Body Control Module (BCM) on certain 2013-2015 Equus (VI) vehicles. This software update changes the logic of the Parking Assist System (PAS). The front parking warning lamp will now remain on when selected by the user; system will no longer disable automatically after vehicle exceeds 12mph.

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
- Make sure the GDS is updated to the latest version using internet smart update.
- Make sure the vehicle's battery has reasonable charge. If the vehicle has been in storage, run the engine to ensure an adequate battery charge for reliable results.
- Turn off all lights (do not leave the headlight switch in auto mode) and all accessories (including heater/air conditioner/fan for both front and rear(if equipped), audio, heated seats, rear defroster, etc.) to ensure the battery will not be discharged during the procedure.
- Perform the procedure with the ignition key in the ON position. (Turn ignition key to the ON position or press the Start-Stop button 2 times without depressing the brake pedal).
- Do not disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or the GDS during the procedure.
- Do not start the engine or turn the ignition switch OFF during the procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
AUTO MODE UPDATE
- Connect the USB cable between the GDS and the VCI.
- Connect the 16-pin DLC connector from the VCI into the DLC located under the driver's crash pad.
- Press the power button on the VCI to turn it ON.
- Press the Start-Stop button 2 times without depressing the brake pedal.
- From the GDS home page, select ECU UPDATE.
After selecting ECU UPDATE,
if the GDS does not automatically detect the VIN, manually enter the VIN number.
- Select BCM
as the system and then select OK.
- Select AUTO MODE
and then NEXT.
- Select BCM
and then Select OK
- The GDS will read the ROM ID. Confirm the ROM ID is applicable as shown on Page 1, "ROM ID Information Table". Select UPDATE.
- GDS will check battery voltage of vehicle before continuing update. If battery does not have proper voltage (12V or higher) do not continue with update.
Click OK if GDS determines voltage is OK.
- GDS will display 'Successfully finished' message once update is complete, press OK.
Check for any DTC codes and if present clear any DTC in history.
NOTE: If Auto Mode Update fails please continue below to the Manual Update - Validate proper PAS function by Selecting

MANUAL MODE UPDATE
If automatic update fails follow the following procedure:
- Turn the ignition key OFF for about 10 seconds.
- Turn ignition key back in the ON position and reset control unit before performing manual update.
- Follow Steps 1- 6 from above Auto Mode Procedure.
Select MANUAL MODE then select NEXT
- Select BCM
then select NEXT
- Select the update event "342.VI FL BCM FRONT PAS AUTO OFF LOGIC IMPROVEMENT"
and then select NEXT.
- Select the appropriate control unit part number with reference to the above ROM ID Information Table (1st Page) and click Upgrade.
- Enter appropriate password from below when promoted then click OK. MANUAL MODE UPDATE INFORMATION
Menu Password VI FL BCM 95400-3N810 3810 VI FL BCM 95400-3N812 3812 - GDS will check battery voltage of vehicle before continuing update. If battery does not have proper voltage (12V or higher) do not continue with update.

UPDATE USING GDS TABLET
- From the GDS home page, select ECU UPGRADE.
After selecting ECU UPGRADE,
if the GDS Tablet does not automatically detect the VIN, manually enter the VIN number.
- From ECU Upgrade screen select MANUAL MODE. CAUTION:
- DO NOT start the engine and DO NOT turn the ignition key to the OFF position during the ECU upgrade.
- Ensure that the battery is fully charged BEFORE beginning ECU upgrade.
- Confirm the target vehicle/system BEFORE performing a manual/error mode ECU upgrade.
- Review the applicable TSB/procedure before performing an ECU upgrade.
- Make certain that the proper connector mentioned in the related TSB is used.
- Ensure that any applicable components are replaced BEFORE performing the ECU upgrade.
- Confirm the new ROM ID after performing an ECU upgrade.
- Do not disconnect the communication with vehicle during upgrading the ECU!!
Do not touch any system buttons while performing this function.
- Select BCM
and then select corresponding update that matches with the vehicle control unit part number with reference to the above ROM ID Information Table (1st Page) and click Upgrade. CAUTION: Do not touch any system buttons while performing this function.
- Enter appropriate password from below when promoted then click OK
