DTC Information and Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Characteristic Monitoring
  1. Poor Connector Connection
  2. Faulty Upstream O2 Sensor
Enable Condition Case 1
  • Upstream O2 sensor operative readiness is detected
  • Downstream O2 sensor operative readiness is detected
  • Active test is not activated
  • Catalyst purge after fuel cut off is not activated
  • Engine speed is faster than 576 RPM
  • Mass air flow is lower than 83g/s
  • Exhaust gas temperature model is between 300°C (572°F) and 800°C (1472°F)
  • Stable driving condition:
    • Filtered engine RPM is 500 RPM faster than actual RPM
    • Filtered air mass is 0.6g/rev greater than actual air mass
    • Filtered lambda value is 15% greater than actual lambda value
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V
Case 2
  • Fuel cut off is not activated
  • Full load is not activated (gas pedal value is less than 90%)
  • No catalyst overheating protection
  • Battery voltage higher than 11V and lower than 16V
Threshold Value Case 1
  • Upstream Lambda (rich) below 0.9 and Downstream O2 signal voltage below 0.2V (lean) and lambda controller in limit (-30%)
Case 2
  • Lambda value below 1.05 when lambda setpoint is 1.15
Diagnostic Time Case 1
  • 5 to 100 sec. depending on intake air mass
Case 2
  • 10 sec. after lambda setpoint shift to corresponding side
MIL ON Condition
  • 2 Driving Cycles
