Intermittent Wiper Does Not Operate
- Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Using a voltmeter, backprobe Hybrid Electric Control (HEC) unit 16-pin harness connector terminal No. 7P (Red wire) with connector connected. See Figure . With wiper switch in OFF position, battery voltage should be present. With wiper switch in INT position, voltage reading should change every 3 to 23 seconds from zero to battery voltage.
- If voltage readings are as specified, check wiper relay and wiper relay circuit. If voltage readings are not as specified, disconnect Super Multiple Joint (SMJ) connector. See Figure . Connect ohmmeter between SMJ connector terminal No. 11I and ground. See Figure . With wiper switch in OFF position, continuity should not be present. With wiper switch in INT position, continuity should be present.
- If continuity is as specified, replace TCU. If continuity is not as specified, check circuit between wiper switch and TCU, and check wiper switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH .
