Without CONSULT-II
- Turn ignition on, and wait for one second. Turn ignition off, and wait for at least 10 seconds. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
- Ensure all conditions under PRE-CONDITIONING
are met. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
- Disconnect throttle position sensor 6-pin harness connector, and reconnect within 5 seconds. Wait 20 seconds. Ensure that idle speed is 700-800 RPM. If idle speed is not as specified, Idle Air Volume Learning will not be complete.
- If Idle Air Volume Learning is not completed, quickly increase engine speed 2 or 3 times. See THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH, IGNITION TIMING & IGNITION SYSTEM
in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article. If idle speed and timing are as specified, adjust as necessary and repeat Idle Air Volume Learning procedure. If idle speed and timing are as specified, go to next step.
- If Idle Air Volume Learning cannot be performed successfully, check following:
- Ensure throttle valve is fully closed.
- Check PCV valve operation.
- Ensure no vacuum leaks exist.
- Adjust closed throttle position switch and reset memory. See THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH, IGNITION TIMING & IDLE SPEED
in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
- If all of the above items check okay, engine components and installation are suspect. Perform appropriate BASIC INSPECTION procedure in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS
article.
- If after engine starts any of following occurs: engine stalls, idle speed fluctuates or has blown fuses related to IACC system, repair as necessary. After repair, repeat Idle Air Volume Learning procedure.
