Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check. See BASIC TESTING article. Go to next step.
- Check ignition control module for poor connection or damaged terminals. If a problem is found, repair as necessary. Retest system. If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check PCM connector for poor connection or damaged terminals. If a problem is found, repair as necessary. Retest system. If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect harness from PCM and ignition control module. Check ignition control circuit for an open, short to ground or voltage. If a problem is found, repair as necessary. Retest system. If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Replace ignition control module. Retest system. If problem still exists, go to next step.
- Replace PCM. Program replacement PCM using required equipment. Retest system.
