SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS components locations, precautions and procedures in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS before performing repairs or service.
- Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover (see DRIVER'S DASHBOARD LOWER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Disconnect the 14P connector from the control unit.
- Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
- If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
- If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.
- With the 14P connector disconnected, make these input tests.
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the control unit may be faulty; replace it. Substitute a known-good control unit and retest. If the system works properly, replace the control unit.
