Anti-Theft System Functional Test

NOTE: Performing anti-theft system functional check will assist technician in identifying malfunctioning component(s) or circuit(s).
  1. Ensure doors, tailgate and hood are closed and locked. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Open windows fully. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove ignition key. Ensure anti-theft indicator light is off. If indicator light continues flashing, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT CONTINUES FLASHING  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Unlock left front door using door knob. Open left front door and exit vehicle. Ensure indicator light flashes, and dome and courtesy lights come on. If lights do not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT FLASH  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  3. Close and lock left front door using door knob. Ensure indicator light changes from flashing to steady illumination. If light does not operate as specified, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  4. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  5. Unlock left front door using door knob. All doors should unlock. Ensure alarm system operates correctly. Headlights should flash and horn should sound intermittently. If system does not operate correctly, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN DOOR IS UNLOCKED MANUALLY (WITHOUT USING KEY)  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  6. Unlock left front door using ignition key. Ensure alarm system is deactivated. If system does not deactivate, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM WILL NOT DEACTIVATE  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  7. Lock left front door and ensure all doors are locked. Ensure indicator light comes on. If indicator light does not come on, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  8. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  9. Unlock left front door using ignition key. Ensure alarm system does not activate. If alarm system activates, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM ACTIVATES WHEN USING IGNITION KEY TO UNLOCK DOOR  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  10. Lock left front door using ignition key. Ensure indicator light comes on. If indicator light does not come on, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  11. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
    NOTE: On 2-door models, omit rear door test steps.
  12. Unlock left rear door using door knob. Ensure only left rear door is unlocked. Ensure alarm system operates correctly. Headlights should flash and horn should sound intermittently. If system does not operate correctly, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN DOOR IS UNLOCKED MANUALLY (WITHOUT USING KEY)  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  13. Unlock left front door using ignition key. Ensure all doors are unlocked and alarm system is deactivated. If system does not deactivate, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM WILL NOT DEACTIVATE  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  14. Open left rear door. Ensure indicator light flashes, and dome and courtesy lights come on. If lights do not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT FLASH  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  15. Have assistant enter vehicle and close left rear door. Lock left front door using door knob. Ensure all doors are locked and indicator light comes on (steady). If indicator light is not steady, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  16. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  17. Unlock tailgate lock from inside vehicle to activate alarm system. Ensure only tailgate is unlocked. Ensure alarm system operates correctly. Headlights should flash and horn should sound intermittently. If system does not operate correctly, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN DOOR IS UNLOCKED MANUALLY (WITHOUT USING KEY)  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  18. Open tailgate, then lock tailgate using ignition key. Ensure alarm system deactivates. If alarm system does not deactivate, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT DEACTIVATE WHEN TAILGATE IS OPENED WITH KEY  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  19. Leave tailgate open. Ensure indicator light flashes. If indicator light does not flash, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT FLASH  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Ensure luggage compartment light comes on. If light does not come on, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT OPERATE WITH TAILGATE OPEN  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  20. Close tailgate and lock tailgate using ignition key. Ensure indicator light changes from flashing to steady condition. If light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  21. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  22. Unlock tailgate using ignition key. Ensure alarm system does not activate. If alarm system activates, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM ACTIVATES WHEN USING IGNITION KEY TO UNLOCK DOOR  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  23. Lock tailgate using ignition key. Ensure indicator light comes on. If indicator light does not come on, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  24. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  25. Unlock right rear door using door knob. Ensure right rear door only is unlocked. Ensure alarm system operates correctly. Headlights should flash and horn should sound intermittently. If system does not operate correctly, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN DOOR IS UNLOCKED MANUALLY (WITHOUT USING KEY)  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  26. Unlock right front door using ignition key. Ensure all doors are unlocked and alarm system is deactivated. If system does not deactivate, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM WILL NOT DEACTIVATE  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  27. Open right rear door. Ensure indicator light flashes, and dome light and courtesy lights come on. If lights do not come on as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT FLASH  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  28. Close right rear door. Lock right front door using ignition key. Ensure indicator light comes on (steady). If indicator light is not steady, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  29. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  30. Unlock right front door using door knob. Ensure only right front door is unlocked. Ensure alarm system operates correctly. Headlights should flash and horn should sound intermittently. If system does not operate correctly, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN DOOR IS UNLOCKED MANUALLY (WITHOUT USING KEY)  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  31. Unlock right front door using ignition key. Ensure alarm system is deactivated and all doors are unlocked. If system does not deactivate, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM WILL NOT DEACTIVATE  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  32. Open right front door. Ensure indicator light flashes, and dome light and courtesy lights come on. If lights do not come on as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT FLASH  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  33. Close right front door. Lock right front door using ignition key. Ensure indicator light comes on (steady). If indicator light is not steady, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  34. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  35. Unlock right front door using ignition key. Ensure alarm system does not activate. If alarm system activates, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM ACTIVATES WHEN USING IGNITION KEY TO UNLOCK DOOR  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  36. Lock right front door using ignition key. Ensure indicator light comes on (steady). If indicator light is not steady, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT STEADY OR DOES NOT COME ON  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  37. Wait about 10 seconds. Ensure indicator light turns off in about 10 seconds. Alarm system is activated. If indicator light does not operate as described, see ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  38. Open hood using hood release handle inside vehicle. Ensure alarm system operates. If alarm system does not operate, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN HOOD IS RELEASED  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  39. Insert key into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Ensure alarm system deactivates. If alarm system does not deactivate, see ANTI-THEFT ALARM DOES NOT DEACTIVATE WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED TO ACC  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
