Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform ON-Board Diagnostic II (OBD-II) system check. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. Go to next step.
- Start engine. Using scan tool, operate vehicle within the conditions specified to set DTC. Monitor specified DTC information until P0327 test runs. Observe and record the test results. If scan tool indicates DTC P0327 FAILED THIS IGNITION, go to step 4. If scan tool does not indicate DTC P0327 FAILED THIS IGNITION, go to next step.
- Turn engine off. Turn ignition on. Review and record FREEZE FRAME and FAILED RECORDS data, and note readings. Operate vehicle within FAILURE RECORDS conditions. Monitor specified DTC information for DTC P0327. Observe test results. If scan tool does not indicate DTC P0327 FAILED THIS IGNITION, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If scan tool indicates DTC P0327 FAILED THIS IGNITION, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect KS. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between KS connector terminals. If reading is about 5 volts, go to next step. If reading is not about 5 volts, go to step 8.
- Measure resistance of KS by connecting DVOM between KS terminal and engine block. If resistance is about 100 k/ohms, go to next step. If reading is not about 100 k/ohms, go to step 9.
- Check KS sensor signal circuit for a poor terminal connection. If a problem was found, repair as necessary and go to next step. If connection is okay, go to step 9.
- Connect KS. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor KS reading. Using a metal object, tap engine block. If KS value changes, go to step 11. If no change is indicated, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM. Turn ignition on. Check KS signal circuit for an open or shorted condition. Repair as necessary. If repair was performed, go to step 11. If open or shorted condition was not present, go to step 10.
- Replace KS. Go to step 11.
- Replace and reprogram PCM using required equipment. See PROGRAMMING . Retest system.
- Using scan tool, select the DTC and clear information. Start engine. Idle engine to normal operating temperature. Select specified DTC. Enter DTC P0327. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for setting DTC P0327. If scan tool indicates vehicle RAN AND PASSED, go to next step. If scan tool indicates DTC FAILED THIS IGNITION, return to step 2.
- Using scan tool, select CAPTURE INFO and REVIEW. If any other DTCs are displayed, go to appropriate diagnostic test procedure.
