Test TC-2: Transmission Input Inspection

  1. Connect scan tool. Using scan tool, select DATA LIST. If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with manual transmission, go to step  4 .
  2. While monitoring scan tool, move gearshift lever to "L" and "R" positions. If scan tool indicates transmission input ACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate transmission input ACTIVE, go to step  6 .
  3. If scan tool indicates transmission input INACTIVE with gearshift lever in positions other than "L" and "R" positions, go to step  7 . If scan tool does not indicate transmission input INACTIVE with gearshift lever in positions other than "L" and "R" positions, go to step  6 .
  4. While monitoring scan tool, move gearshift lever to 1st, 2nd and Reverse. If scan tool indicates transmission input ACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate transmission input ACTIVE, go to step  6 .
  5. If scan tool indicates transmission input INACTIVE with gearshift lever in positions other than 1st, 2nd and Reverse, go to step  7 . If scan tool does not indicate transmission input INACTIVE with gearshift lever in positions other than 1st, 2nd and Reverse, go to next step.
  6. Repair faulty transmission/inhibitor switch or harness. After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Reconnect all components. Ensure all components are properly installed. Verify system operation.
