Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If SIR Diagnostic System Check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR Diagnostic System Check has not been performed, go to See SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. If air bag assemblies have not deployed, DTC 51 and-or 53 may have set falsely. Turn ignition off. If air bags have deployed, go to next step. If air bags have not deployed, go to step  4.
  3. Replace deployed components and perform inspections as required. See POST-COLLISION INSPECTION . Clear DTCs and repeat See SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  4. If DTC 51 and-or 53 has set with no signs of frontal impact, diagnostic trouble code has set falsely. Inspect front of vehicle and undercarriage for signs of impact. If signs of impact not found, go to next step. If signs of impact found, turn ignition off. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect all SRS components. Ensure all components are properly mounted. Clear DTCs. Repeat See SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  5. Replace deployed components and perform inspections as required. See POST-COLLISION INSPECTION . Clear DTCs and repeat See SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
