DTC 21: "G" Sensor Circuit

  1. Ensure vehicle is level. Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect "G" sensor harness connector. Measure resistance between "G" sensor terminals. If resistance is 4-6 k/ohms, check harness connector for short. If fault is found, repair and perform system self-check. If no fault was found, replace the EHCU. Go to step  3 . If resistance is not 4-6 k/ohms, go to the next step.
  2. Check "G" sensor bracket. If bracket is installed horizontally, go to step  4 . If bracket is not installed horizontally, repair or replace bracket. After repairs, go to step  4 .
  3. Remove the "G" sensor. Measure resistance between "G" sensor terminals. If resistance is 4-6 k/ohms when "G" sensor is horizontal, go to next step. If resistance is not 4-6 k/ohms when "G" sensor is horizontal, replace G sensor. After repairs, go to step  6 .
  4. Measure resistance between "G" sensor terminals while holding "G" sensor tilted to 30 degrees or more. If resistance is 1-2 k/ohms, go to step  5 . If resistance is not 1-2 k/ohms, replace "G" sensor. After repairs, go to step  6 .
  5. Disconnect EHCU harness connector. Check harness between EHCU and "G" sensor for open or short. Check harness connectors for damage, corrosion or loose terminals. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  6 . If harness and connections are okay, go to next step.
  6. Reconnect all components. Ensure all components are properly installed. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Verify system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
