Circuit Description

SDM contains sensing device which converts vehicle velocity changes to electrical signal. Electrical signal generated is processed by SDM and compared to a value stored in memory. When generated signal exceeds stored value, SDM will cause current to flow through air bag, deploying air bags and causing DTC 51 to set. DTC 53 is set accompanying DTC 51 when a deployment occurs while an air bag assembly fault is present that could result in a no deployment situation.
